I recently visited Topo Gigio on a whim for a Friday night dinner, and it exceeded all my expectations. The experience began with a perfectly timed espresso martini, served in a shaker--a clever touch that felt modern and thoughtful, catering to the current espresso martini craze. I am always a fan of complimentary bread so was happy to see this is something they offer. My Fusilloni Tocco Delicato was exceptional--comforting, flavorful, and something I can't wait to order again. The ambiance was everything I look for in a restaurant: warm, inviting, and nostalgic. It reminded me of cozy dinners out with my parents, evoking a sense of the early 2000s in the best way possible. Topo Gigio combines excellent food, thoughtful details, and a charming atmosphere that I look forward to sharing with my family on their next visit.
Lovely lunch on the patio; 75 degrees in late October. Server was very gracious and food was delivered promptly. We ordered a wide variety of items and everyone enjoyed their meals. The Caesar salad was overdressed, but fresh. The burrata was amazing and wonderful on the accompanying crostini with roasted peppers. Other entrees with veal were nicely presented. Not sure I understood the potato crisps with the veal Parmesan; was pasta a choice? We had two desserts Spumoni and Tiramisu. Great flavors, although the mascarpone was a little under sweetened or not at all; but still good. All and all a wonderful lunch with fall leaves.
Wonderful food and ambiance! My son and his GF chose this locale for an opportune dining experience in the Chicago neighborhood he now calls home. We waited a bit despite the reservations but the table was well worth it! We enjoyed a lovely meal of varied apps and entrees and weren't rushed in the least despite the constant crowd- no wonder they're a longstanding favorite!
Would eat here again simply due to the service!! With being such a popular place to eat we were sat right away and our server Alex was phenomenal. My friend and I didn't know which wine to drink, but he provided us with samples and made sure we got the one we liked. Secondly, my friend spilt her wine and he offered another glass on the house. Lastly, he was attentive and cracked excellent jokes. The food was decent, but not the best. The sauce and the noodles were perfect, but the cheese in our dish needed to be melted more. It was hard and rubbery. The outside porch is adorable as well!
My friends and I decided to get dinner at Topo Gigio on a Sunday evening after visiting the Old Town fair. We did not have a reservation and could easily walk in and get a table for 4. Topo Gigio features a modern Tuscan-Style approach to Italian Cooking. This place has a lot of seating space - they have a patio, bar and indoor seating as well! We ordered a house salad - PANZANELLA alla ROMANA that was shared by all and also ordered CAMPANELLE alla NORMA and CONCHIGLIE MEDITERRANEA. They have hand made pastas and it was delicious! Overall, the food was very authentic and 10/10 would recommend it. The place was a bit crowded as they were showing Celtics vs. Mavericks game but overall the place had a good vibe! I'll surely visit again.

THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD! Outstanding Italian dishes! 3 weeks to make a reservation but it was worth the wait! This place didn't disappoint! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable on every single dish! He recites the dish when you order so you know exactly what you are getting. My husband had the pesto and he said it's the best pesto compared to all Italian restaurants we have been to. It was so fresh, not heavy and everything tasted homemade! We also ordered the Risotto and the special seafood linguine & had no problem to request the black ink linguine. Both tasted very delicious and presented beautifully! It was outstanding! We are pleased with the portion and the amount of seafood! This is now our new favorite Italian restaurant! The place is a bit dark, very crowded & loud but the food and service is outstanding! Therefore it was worth the noise! We love this place and we already made future reservations for our birthdays! FYI an hour and half drive from home but so worth it!
